Introduction to Flameret

Flameret - The Ultimate Fire Retardant

In the early 1900's, the United States began passing laws that have become known as "Tagging Laws" that identify contents in various goods to protect consumers. You have probably seen these types of labels on your mattress or bed pillow and you probably even laughed over the threatening text that may say something such as "Not To be Removed Under Penalty of Law". You may even have wondered if the label division of the Federal Bureau of Investigators would show up at your house but fortunately, that probably wouldn't ever happen. Joking aside, these types of labels do represent a very important protection mechanism for consumers. They protect consumers from purchasing dangerous or inferior products and they also protect reputable manufacturers from unscrupulous ones.

Over the past 25 years, the United States government has mandated that products such as mattresses and mattress pads that are sold in the United States contain labels with the applicable flammability information for that product affixed to the label. These labels must attest to the fact that the product has passed the necessary flammability tests.

As in the early 1900's when the United States Government passed laws to protect the consumer, governments throughout the world are now passing laws that provide strict mandatory requirements for the flammability standards of various products. In other words, being able to control how much a product repels fire using flame retardants has become a very large business.
